The Scientific journal AEROjournal is published by The Air Transport Department at the University of Zilina. It offers aviation professionals and academics an opportunity for publication of their research outcomes covering wide range of current issues in air transportation. The Air Transport Department at the University of Zilina (ATD) is a centre for education, research, and training in civil aviation. ATD provides accredited study programmes in a three - tier course structure of university education - bachelor, Ing (equivalent to MSc.) and PhD degrees. We also provide complex aircraft pilot training up to the CPL/IR/MEP (A) level (Commercial Pilot with twin-engine aeroplane qualification and qualification for flying in accordance with Instrument Flight Rules) and a theory up to the frozen ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot) level including Multi Crew Cooperation course. ATD is also the base of the National Civil Aviation Security Training Centre of the Slovak Republic. The Centre runs basic aviation security courses in line with the EU regulations for all categories of personnel in aviation. The papers in this journal cover all the aspects of aviation (including airlines, airports, air traffic management, aerospace and maintenance).

Sustainable aviation fuel from the perspective of long-term sustainability and development
(University of Žilina, 2022) Šajbanová, Kristína; Janovec, Michal; Zachar Kuchtová, Jana
The aim of the article is to create a SWOT analysis of the position of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) as an innovative available product on the aviation fuel market and to evaluate its development and application in the coming years. The motivation for the analysis and subsequent creation of this work is the fact that the topic of sustainable aviation fuels is currently extremely actual and also relevant for the future of air transport, as well as the future of the ecosystem from the point of view of reducing the emission load caused by the emissions of aircraft engines, which have a non-negligible share of the ecological load our planet. Because the combustion process in aircraft engines is the main factor in the creation of emissions, alternative aviation fuels from sustainable sources have been developed in order to reduce them. Thanks to the analysis of the goals of the influential aviation manufacturers, we found that the attention paid to the implementation of sustainable fuel is currently and will be given increased attention in the future. Achieving this goal will be made possible through technological advances and governance adjustments in many companies affecting aviation, from aircraft and fuel manufacturers to institutions dealing with administrative matters affecting aviation.

    AMSS in Europe
(University of Žilina, 2022) Novák, Andrej; Kováčiková, Kristína
Nowadays, technology is developing rapidly, therefore satellite and aviation systems need to keep pace with modern trends and new technology. The paper is focused on satellite systems and aviation systems. Based on analysis of the issues it is possible to take measures against problems that may arise in the future. There is a need for satellite-based navigation system that can solve the problems of the existing systems and make the existing systems better and more efficient by providing great convenience to the airspace users for the safe, efficient, comfortable and economical realisation of flights in the future. The paper contains information about Air Communication and Navigation Systems and discusses the state of current aviation and satellite systems.

Využitie údajov DPZ pre zachovanie funkcií lesa
(University of Zilina, 2022) Bobáľ, Peter; Hilbert, Radovan; Sunega, Radovan; Mišovič, Tomáš; Gemela, Boris
The forest is a natural system that fulfills different functions in relation to human society. To ensure long-term maintainability of forest functions it is necessary to monitor of forest on regular basis and subsequently to manage forests based on obtained data. Data from remote sensing are a significant resource for monitoring forests. Compared to other available methods, remote sensing has the advantage of providing contactless acquisition of data. It allows obtaining data from large areas in a short time. echnological improvement constantly brings new innovations also in the remote sensing area. There is a lot of available echnologies, which are possible to use for forest monitoring as a whole or for monitoring of individual trees. This article deals with using remote sensing methods for preserving forest functions. The first part of the article is aimed at using remote sensing echniques for obtaining information about the forest. In the next part of the article most used remote sensing data sources for forest monitoring are noticed.

    Výcvik pilotov bezpilotných prostriedkov
(University of Zilina, 2022) Kováčiková, Kristína; Kandera, Branislav; Kováčiková, Martina
Unmanned aerial vehicles are a part of a fast-growing aviation sector that has the potential to create new jobs as well as economic growth in the individual countries of the European Union. Unmanned aerial vehicle is a relatively new concept compared to the aircraft and it is possible to still find shortcomings in pilot training. The aim of the scientific paper is to map the current state of pilot training regarding unmanned aerial vehicles and to determine the level of demand for the implementation of an unmanned aerial vehicle flight simulator in the flight training of pilots of unmanned aerial vehicles at the Department of Air Transport at the University of Žilina.

Požiadavky na harmonizáciu údržby ultraľahkých lietadiel
(University of Zilina, 2022) Škultéty, Filip; Čerňan, Jozef; Janovec, Michal; Chodelka, Frederik
The exact definition of an Ultralight Aircraft is still very diverse, especially in the European region. Internationally, there are various Ultralight Aircraft (UL) classes with nationally varying certification regulations. Accordingly, Ultralight Aircraft is used colloquially ore or less comprehensively for Very Light Aircraft or Light-Sport Aircraft. However, they are subject to much stricter certification nd maintenance regulations. This paper aims to compare the current legal situation in the European Union countries, extract the best practices, and propose how a new “AMC & GM” should define the laws and regulations to create the best possible vironment for UL airworthiness. This paper is written based on information and directions published on the websites of the esponsible uthorities of the respective countries, as well as communication with these authorities and first-hand knowledge obtained by conducting numerous interviews with people in the field of UL maintenance. The results indicate how different each country egulates the maintenance and continuing airworthiness of ULs and how important a harmonised regulation would be. It is specially important to have clarity as with larger aircraft and thus also to prevent numerous accidents and hazardous situations in the future.

Návrh zdokonalenia ovládacích prvkov simulátora Zlín
(University of Zilina, 2022) Janovec, Michal; Materna, Matúš; Pecho, Pavol
This article deals with possible improvements and improvements of the flight simulator Zlín, which is located at the Air Transport Department of the University of Žilina. The construction of the simulator and the basic control and display units of the simulator ere made in the previous period. For the most realistic feeling of flight, it is necessary to constantly innovate and improve the simulator. The created technical improvements of the simulator control panel, the control mechanism of the lateral and ongitudinal tilt, the balance control and the flaps control to this improvement of the simulator. In the article, these performed improvements of the simulator are described in detail. According to these procedures, the proposed improvements were subsequently practically performed on a simulator.
