The main goal of the work was to process knowledge about the history of surveillance systems and how these systems have evolved over time. For the elaboration of this work, we used professional books, articles and methodologies of various organizations and companies that deal with this topic. Figures and tables have also been used to illustrate the subject more easily. In the first chapter we discuss the history of radiolocation, passive surveillance systems that were used before and after World War II. The first chapter also describes the development of more modern technologies such as ADS-B and multilateration, which have been fully used in the last few years, but their development began much earlier. The second chapter discusses two types of surveillance radars, primary and secondary and their special types. We focused on the description of mainly those specific types that are used at Slovak airports. In the third chapter, we take a closer look at the current development of surveillance systems. We have included in this development the monitoring of air traffic using cameras from remote towers, the combination of surveillance systems into a unit called ARTAS for the purposes of air traffic management and the surveillance of today´s very popular unmanned aerial vehicles.skhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/radiolocationprimarysurveillance radarssecondary surveillance radarsmultilaterationADS-Bspace-based ADS-Bremote towerARTASHISTÓRIA A VÝVOJ PREHĽADOVÝCH SYSTÉMOV PRE ÚČELY RIADENIA LETOVEJ PREVÁDZKYHISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS FOR AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLBook of proceedingshttps://doi.org/10.26552/pas.Z.2020.1.16
