There is analyzed the legal regulation of the issue of regional airports in the EU with regard to their financing from state sources. The paper describes the European Union's position on regional airports, its main challenges and the strategies applicated in this area. Subsequently, it focuses on the regional airports of the Slovak Republic, analyses its current business models and its actual situation. Through this analysis, it tries to determine a suitable model for airports in the Slovak Republic.
