The introductory section discusses the rapid development of UAS technology and the legislative framework governing their use, including the introduction of a UAS park at the University of Žilina. The main part of the article is dedicated to assessing the risks associated with UAS operations, where efforts were made to identify and consider all possible factors affecting safety. Challenges associated with rapidly changing technologies and external factors underscore the need for ongoing development and refinement of risk assessment methodologies, such as the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) developed by EASA, which was applied in this article. The work provides a foundation for creating a SORA analysis, essential for obtaining permissions for flights in the "specific" category.Item Anti-collision systems of unmanned aerial vehicles(University of Zilina, 2021) Višnai, Kristián; Kandera, BranislavThe main goal of the paper is to summarize the knowledge about anti-collision systems of unmanned aerial vehicles. In the work are also described currenly used anti-collision systems of unmanned aerial vehicles. The work contains practical research in which we tested anti-collision systems of DJI Mavic 2 Pro. The purpose of the research was to find out how this unmanned aerial vehicle can avoid static obstacles. The second part of practical research is the analysis and comparison of systems that provide anti-collision actvity between unmanned aerial vehicle and aircraft in the vicinity. Part of the work is also the evaluation and selection of a cooperative anti-collision system for DJI Inspire 2. The conclusion of the papercontains a summary of the findings that we have obtained based on the analysis of available facts and using operational experience.Item ASSESSMENT OF THE MENTAL STATE OF PILOTS(Žilinská univerzita v Žiline, 2020) Kandera, Branislav; Chodelka, Frederik; Škvareková, IvetaThe main aim of this article is to define and evaluate current status of the problem, to point out insufficient or even missing mental health examinations of pilots and possible fatal consequences including air accidents caused by pilots’ mental health. According to actual regulations, mental health examinations are being provided only during the first aero-medical examination when applying for first class medical certificate. Today, the mental health is not being evaluated even during the regular examinations for the first class certificate neither for other classes certificates. The mental state of pilots is almost never checked which can mean a real danger for civil aviation. The results of not controlling mental state of pilots might lead to fatal accidents and innocent lives losses. The analysis of air accidents covered in this thesis is based on accidents’ investigations final reports and other relevant sources. Also, the knowledge gained from interviews with experts is applied. Even though the air accidents caused by psychical state of pilots are infrequent, the examinations of pilots’ mental health should not definitely be underrated and neglected.Item CHANGES IN THE FIELD OF BACKROUND CHECK(Žilinská univerzita v Žiline, 2020) Lysina, Karol; Kandera, BranislavThe Aviation Security system, like other areas of civil aviation and almost all other human activities in life, is tied to skills, knowledge and experience. This is a look at changes in the field of background check.Item Danger of icing when operating unmanned aerial vehicles(University of Žilina, 2022) Ondrejková, Ivana; Kandera, BranislavThe paper examines icing on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) during the flight. We chose the Mavic Pro and Mavic 2 Pro UAV by company DJI to carry out the research. Research flights are performed during the early morning hours with meteorological conditions suitable for icing. We use the AirData application to analyse flight data. The aim of the work is to find out how dangerous icing is, what meteorological conditions are suitable for icing, how fast icing is formed during the operation of an unmanned aircraft and how it is possible to suppress or eliminate icing. In introduction of this work elaborated theoretical knowledge about the formation of icing and its types. Subsequently, the negative effects of icing on the flight are described, such as changes in lift, drag, controllability of the aircraft and others. The following section describes the accidents of UAV due to the impact of icing. After analysing the data from the mentioned application, we proposed recommendations for pilots of UAV. Before the flight, we recommend checking the meteorological forecast, focusing on the temperature and humidity at the flight area, usually up to 120 meters above the Earth surface. In-flight recommendations include monitoring rotation speed of propellers and frequent inspection of propellers in meteorological conditions suitable for icing and others.Item Deployment of enviro system for obtaining geospatial data for forest monitoring and improving forest management and protection(University of Žilina, 2022) Materna, Matúš; Novák, Andrej; Badánik, Benedikt; Kandera, BranislavPaper describes deployment of ENVIRO System used for obtaining geospatial data for forest monitoring and improving forest anagement. The content of the work is divided from the very beginnings of aircraft instruments and their gradual use and expansion. Subsequently, I deal with the data that are displayed by the devices, but also their design and the comparison of the current state compared to the initial versions. Innovations of aircraft instruments are focused on both components and the display of flight data, which leads to simplification of their operation and individual assembly. One of the advantages of modern instruments is their ability to detect errors that may occur during the flight, which serves the pilots to ensure the flight. Furthermore, I focused on the system of collection, processing and evaluation of information, as well as their final production on board the aircraft. My work is mainly focused on the Dynon system, whose functions, display and implementation I described in detail, use and design in aircraft cockpits. The main goal of the thesis is additional processing of information for the subject Aircraft Instruments I and their processing from the student's point of view.Item EFEKTIVITA VÝCVIKU PILOTOV NA DIAĽKU(Žilinská univerzita v Žiline, 2020) Kandera, Branislav; Škvareková, Iveta; Ažaltovič, ViliamAlthough the topic of unmanned aerial vehicles is very acutal, in most cases attention is paid to the safe integration of unmanned aerial vehicles in airspace, their uses and their reliability. But the safe operation of drones is based on the correct and effective training of drone pilots. The paper deals with the training of pilots of unmanned aerial vehicles, defining the scope of training and the possibilities of using UAV simulators for training. An important aspect is the complexity of knowledge about unmanned aerial vehicles, as training is not only a question of control skills, but also of theoretical knowledge of the UAV itself with which the flight is performed. Based on the measured data, it is clear that the simulator plays an important role during the training of piloting unmanned aerial vehicles, while providing a valuable basis for the transition to a type of fixed-wing flight configuration.Item Enhancing safety in glider flights(University of Žilina, 2023) Gánovský, Martin; Kandera, BranislavThe theme of paper is to find out new possibilities in safety improvements during sailplanes flights, focusing primarily on flights when the separation with other traffic is reduced. At the beginning a summary of glider evolution across the centuries is made starting with the interwar period to the shapes that we know from the latest exhibitions. First part of the paper is followed by the analysis of the current available technical measurements which enhance safety and reduce the probability of in-flight collisions during various phases of flight, including latest and most modern technical implementations used by glider operators to enhance the safety of themselves and others. We will also look up for any available legislative rules based both on national civil authority regulations defined by state itself and for regulations that were created by Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) which covers most of glider competitions organized world-wide. In practical part we followed our thoughts about how to improve the current situation in this part of the aviation industry. In following steps, we decided to ask the glider pilots about their personal experience with reduced separation caused by nearby gliders during different phases of operations. Generally, there is a huge number of mid-air collisions during sailplane competitions and flight phases where pilots are crossing each other by minimal separation (mountain ridge flying). We decided to suggest minor legislative regulations and technical implementations to improve current situation world-wide and make these flights as safe as possible with minimizing of future incidents.Item Influence of stress on the performance of pilots in training(University of Žilina, 2022) Goldschmidt, Jakub; Kandera, BranislavThis paper deals with the influence of stress that affects pilots in training, how stress affects their daily lives, but especially how it affects their concentration and performance during pilot training. It describes what risks, whether mental or physical, can occur to pilots in training. It also discusses about the factors that affect pilots. One of the factors is the kinetosis, to which more attention is paid and which had also become the subject of the research in this diploma thesis. The aim was to use a questionnaire to find out whether the pilots in the training encountered signs of motion sickness during the training, how it affected their concentration and how they dealt with these situations. In conclusion, based on these responses, we suggested possible preventive solutions for other future novice pilots on how to avoid motion sickness and if it had already occured, how it should be eliminated as much as possible not to affect performance and concentration of pilots.Item Inspecting activities with unmanned aerial vehicles in the energy industry(University of Zilina, 2021) Beszédes, Vladim; Kandera, BranislavThe paper acquaints the reader with the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in the energy industry. For the purpose of our research, we decided to use eye monitoring technology to record eye movements to determine the pilot's performance. Eye monitoring provides data on the number of eye movements, number of visual intakes, number of saccades, number of blinks, fixations and the durations of these. Our study incorporated overall six pilots divided into two groups: the experienced and inexperienced. The measurements were performed on the ELITE S923 flight simulator located at Žilina airport, Dolný Hričov. Measurement and analysis of the data showed that the pilots showed significant deviations when comparing the two pilot samples. We also demonstrated various scanning techniques during ILS and NDB approaches. The conclusion of our work summarizes the measurement results and the use of eye track technology in the future.Item Monitoring of technical state of unmanned aerial vehicles(University of Zilina, 2022) Lagin, Samuel; Kandera, BranislavThe aim of this work is to study current possibilities of monitoring the technical state of the unmanned aircraft from the most basic activities to the more advanced aircraft systems. Partial goal is to create a simple general maintenance checklist for cases when the manufacturer does not publish any maintenance procedures, or the manufacturer is the owner and pilot of the aircraft, in case of DIY aircraft.
