Detekcia rušenia signálu GNSS na letiskách
(University of Žilina, 2023) Velčický, Ján; Novák, Andrej
Although the Global Navigation Satellite System provides an increased precision in instrument approaches, it is vulnerable to various signal interferences causing either decreased position accuracy or a complete loss of GNSS signal reception. One of the major threats to a GNSS receiver is the intentional interference known as jamming. Incoming airplanes can be seriously endangered by such signal loss. This bachelor’s thesis addresses the detection and classification of possible unintentional and intentional interference and spoofing attacks on airplanes in proximity to the airdrome Žilina. Besides that, other systems which show sufficient reliability are compared. Additionally, critical parts of RNP approach chart map are evaluated. Finally, a device called HackRF ONE is selected to be put in aerodrome proximity for detection of possible GNSS interference. Using this software defined radio as unmanned aerial vehicle alarm and protection system is another suggested possibility.

Artificial intelligence and its use in air transport
(University of Zilina, 2022) Bendík, Dávid; Novák, Andrej
In recent years, modern technologies have found large applications in sectors such as engineering, healthcare, information technology, robotics, and so forth. One important field in the use of such modern technologies is the field of air transport, where the main objective of using these technologies is to facilitate work for people, make individual tasks more efficient and faster, or reduce the risks associated with human error. In this paper, we will look at artificial intelligence and its use in aviation. Despite the rapid pace of improvement, artificial intelligence is still finding its way to reach its full potential. The history of artificial intelligence dates back to ancient times when many philosophers wondered whether a machine could think. The answer is found in the second half of the 20th century, when, besides theoretical knowledge, we can also observe the first intelligent machines. There is no clear and single correct definition for artificial intelligence, so the subject of the next section is to define artificial intelligence from different sources. The following section details the difference between deep learning and machine learning, comparing their main differences and applications in aviation. The analysis of the current state of application of artificial intelligence in aviation represents the core part of this paper. The emphasis in the analysis is put mainly on applications in the field of airports, air traffic management and safety. In each of these areas, the benefits of using AI are evaluated based on already established AI-enabled technologies. Finally, by analysing the sources available and those applied in our work with the use of a mathematical model, we assess how important the role artificial intelligence currently plays in air transport.

Analysis of the earth's surface influence on the accuracy of non directional beacon in mountain terrain
(University of Zilina, 2021) Novák, Andrej; Novák Sedláčková, Alena; Lusiak, Tomasz; Stelmach, Anna
This paper deals with the measuring and checking of the Non Directional Beacon using flying laboratory AeroLab 1 at University of Zilina. It is based on the most simple radio navigation concept: a ground-based radio transmitter (the NDB) sends an omnidirectional signal that an aircraft loop antenna receives. Our practical measurement shows that the NDB satisfies ICAO standards and can be used in industrial part of urban area and is functional in spite of the interference. The paper concentrates on the measuring of the Non Directional Beacon (NDB) which is installed close to industrial part of the city. The ADF/NDB navigation system is one of the oldest air navigation system still in use today. One of the paper's goals is to familiarize the aviation public with the practical measurement of this urban area phenomenon in terms of flight safety, which is common in mountainous nations such as Slovakia. The article's other purpose is to educate professionals in the area about this occurrence in terms of its nature as a physical rule, in order to develop solutions to improve the navigation system's measurement accuracy.

Electronization of a modern flight school
(University of Zilina, 2021) Dvorščák, Dávid; Novák, Andrej
This paper deals with the selection of a specific solution for the electronic management system of the Aviation Training and Educational Center of the University of Žilina in Žilina. The selection is based on an analysis of system properties and research using a pair of questionnaires in which we found out the preferences of instructors and students in flight training. We identified the basic functions and components of the systems and compared them with the research findings. We fulfilled the basic goal of this paper by selecting three systems, that meet the requirements of students, instructors and flight school. The introduction of one of these systems would simplify flight training for students in the future and increase the overall efficiency of the flight school.

Design of UAV detection system utilizing communication monitoring
(University of Zilina, 2021) Brodniansky, Martin; Novák, Andrej
Aim of the paper is to design a system capable of detecting unmanned aerial vehicles utilizing radio communication sensing. The need to detect UAVs is caused by combination of their compact size, sensing capabilities, autonomous nature, ways of misusing them or their spread among unprofessional users unaware of their own risky handling of UAV. All these factors can lead to serious security threats and risk to human lives or infrastructure. In this paper, radio communication detection system is proposed as part of a robust system where radio detection is supplemented by other methods, to maximise probability of UAV detection. Significant attention was dedicated to deeper analysis of current progress in the area of radio communication detection systems as well as acoustic, visual and radar detection. Based on this analysis, all systems were compared together based on probability of detection and distances of detection. Comparation together with different properties of detection methods were basic stepping stone for final system proposal. Robust detection system was successfully designed with radio detection as its primary component, radar detection serving primarily as localizer of UAV, acoustic system serving as backup for detection of UAVs without radio communication and visual system for final confirmation of UAV, its model and presence of camera or load

Methodical manual for flight according to PBN
(University of Zilina, 2021) Novák, Andrej; Jůn, František
Work dealing with the professional topic of PBN issues and its use within the University of Žilina in Žilina. The division of the work is 4 content units, each of which describes a different area of the issue. In the first chapter, the author analyzes certified navigation devices and their functionality within the PBN concept. The chapter describes the basic radio navigation equipment, which we include in the concept of PBN, namely VOR, DME, but also satellite navigation systems GNSS, ABAS, GBAS, SBAS. And in summary, use of these systems in the PBN concept. The next chapter describes the theoretical knowledge that a student should have in flight according to PBN. It describes the theoretical background that a pilot needs to perform such a flight. Every pilot who starts practical flying should have studied the facts given in this chapter. In the third chapter, the reader will learn about the differences between flying a real aircraft and between simulator flying during PBN training. It describes the execution of the flight according to PBN, which is helpful before starting the simulator training. The simulator is an important part of the training and should therefore be given the same level of attention. The last part of this work summarizes the facts from the previous chapters and uses this knowledge in their implementation in flight procedures. When reading this chapter, it is necessary to use your knowledge of practical training. The aim of this work is to create a framework for the future methodological manual for PBN training. The main goal of this work is to bring the issue closer to the reader, to acquaint him with the issue of PBN flying.
