Item Návrh a vybudovanie simulátora pracoviska riadiaceho letovej prevádzky pre potreby katedry leteckej dopravy(University of Žilina, 2024) Kupka, Hugo; Badánik, BenediktThe growing popularity of air travel increases the demands on qualified ATC personnel. Despite technological advances offering operational benefits, the ever-increasing need for skilled personnel remains. The diploma thesis deals with the construction of an ATC simulator at the Department of Air Transport. The ATC simulator is an excellent practice-educational aid, among other things, quite fun, for students who are interested in the air traffic control industry or who want to become air traffic controllers. Simulator training enhances their practical skills and prepares them for the demands of industry. Through a study of the global concept of ATC simulators and market analysis, we introduce the reader to the issue of ATC simulators. This is followed by a focus on the analysis of ATC simulators used for personnel training in Slovakia and neighboring countries. After a theoretical introduction to ATC simulators, we define the goals and methodological approaches of the work, which prepare the ground for the following practical part of the work, in which we will focus exclusively on the simulator we built. We will move on to examine in more detail the build, configuration and key roles of the "Escape Light" software provided by Eurocontrol which is our simulation software for ATC simulations. Through detailed explanations and visualizations, we will clarify the functions and features of the individual program parts of the Escape Light software, which are necessary for the effective operation of the simulator. In the final part, we will describe the finished simulator and all the functionalities it has. The creation of the exercise is the necessary conclusion of the construction, and at the same time it is the result of the practical application of the knowledge gained during the construction of the simulator.Item Proposal of the training plan for simulator pilots in the environment of LPS SR, š.p.(University of Žilina, 2024) Poljak, Matúš; Beňo, KarolThe pace of development in air traffic management (ATM) procedures and technologies, along with their implementation into air traffic control (ATC), necessitates the modification of existing training plans for both newly qualified and already certified air traffic controllers (ATCOs) in the Slovak Republic. These changes are integrated into actual operations through practical exercises on ATM simulation devices within the premises of the Training Center of the Air Navigation Services of the Slovak Republic. A crucial component of each exercise is the simulator pilot, whose task is to simulate air traffic operations based on current flight procedures and rules. The aim of this work is to propose a detailed training plan for simulator pilots using MaxSIM and radar simulator for ATM systems LETVIS and Eurocat 2000, specifically tailored to the environment of the Air Navigation Services, taking into account the current requirements and needs of the Training Center (TC) as well as all ATC units using TC services. The resulting training plan includes the structure of the training, outlines of theoretical knowledge, presents exercise objectives, factors monitored by the practical training instructor, and evaluations of the performance of the pseudo-pilot in these exercises. The proposal introduces new exercises that address issues currently not covered in pseudo-pilot training, specifically in the approach control environments of Virtcity, Košice, and Štefánik, as well as tower control environments of Virtcity, Košice, Pieštany, Poprad-Tatry, Žilina, and Štefánik. For the Area Control Center in Bratislava, based on consultations with the lead instructor of this unit, the work suggests specialized exercises where the pseudo-pilot actively assumes the role of controlling neighboring positions, thereby increasing the knowledge requirements regarding coordination between positions.Item Comparison of pilot's workload during NDB and ILS approaches(University of Zilina, 2021) Fedáš, Július; Škvareková, IvetaThe paper is focused on the comparison of workloads of pilots during the precision ILS (Instrument Landing System) approach and non- precision NDB (Non-Directional Beacon) approach. For the needs of our work, we used technology to measure heart rate variability, which was used to collect the authoritative data needed to analyze the workload and stress levels of the tested participants. Our study involved four pilots, who were divided into two groups, a group of beginner pilots and advanced pilots. Practical measurements were performed on the flight simulator L410 UVP-E20, which is located in the premises of the Flight training and education center of the University of Žilina. The aim of our work was to find out and compare to what extent the workload during NDB and ILS approach of pilots with different levels of practical and theoretical experience will be different and also to compare these two approach systems with each other. We chose the final phase of the flight, due to its complexity and overall demands on piloting, which in this case has been the precision approach and non- precision approach. Practical measurement and analysis of the obtained data showed that the tested pilots indicated significant differences in the level of workload, resulting from their experience.. We also noticed a slight difference after comparing the two approaches. The conclusion of our work contains a summary of the measured results, as well as the perspective of the contribution of measuring the workload to the future and its use in a wider rangeItem MOŽNOSTI VYUŽITIA SIMULÁTORA ESCAPE LIGHT V PROCESE VÝUČBY PREDMETU MANAŽMENT LETOVEJ PREVÁDZKY(Žilinská univerzita v Žiline, 2020) Holocsyová, Lenka; Materna, MatúšIn pursuance of this paper we have proposed the possibilities of applying Escape Light simulator in the process of the Air Traffic Management education. This subject is a part of the engineering study at the Department of Air Transport at the University of Žilina. The ESCAPE Light simulator, which is available at the department, is currently unused. In this paper we have proposed a way in which it would be possible to apply the simulator, with a current designed simulations, to the practical education of the subject. We have designed a new curriculum for the practical and theoretical part of education as well. The content of the theoretical education of the first part of the Air Traffic Management subject consists of the content that is mostly usable in the following exercises with the simulator. The second part is devoted to the study of international organizations influencing the provision and providers of air navigation services, unexpected and emergency situations in aviation. The lectures are proposed to create a clear orientation in air traffic management, procedures and processes. During the practical education, students will participate 10 exercises with the Escape Light simulator during two semesters. We have designed the traning with this device in a way, in wich every student will learn how to control simulator in both positions, as an air traffic cotroller and pseudopilot as well. Students will learn the procedures of establishing radio contact, estimates of headings, assignment of flight levels with the relevant aviation phraseology. Students will also learn operating procedures, working with flight strips and a radar situation display.
