Forecasting flight delays using machine learning
(University of Žilina, 2024) Soloviov, Mykhailo; Badánik, Benedikt
This article considers machine learning and its utilization in the domain of air transportation. The first part of this research aims to define machine learning, describe its historical development and helps delineate machine learning in a broader framework of other data analysis approaches such as artificial intelligence, deep learning and data science. In the second part, the research is meant to explain what machine learning is, tell more about the types of machine learning and how it is used in different scenarios in the aviation industry. This part of the thesis discusses certain areas and real examples of how machine learning is used by multiple companies (aircraft manufacturers) as well as examines the available conclusions of researches already undertaken in the area and determines their connection to the current one. Finally, the practical part of the thesis uses the collected real-time data about departures from two American airports, analyses it with the help of statistical Python-based tools, describes the developed machine-learning algorithm to predict delays, runs experiments on data and discusses results.

    Intelligent warehouse systems
(University of Žilina, 2024) Biňasová, Vladimíra; Bubeník, Peter; Rakyta, Miroslav; Kasajová, Marta; Zuzik, Ján
Artificial intelligence can change the overall operation of a business and make work activities more efficient not only in terms of time but also economically. Individual enterprises are increasingly trying to incorporate artificial intelligence into production processes and the need to summarize knowledge about this trend is the main pillar of this paper.

Possibilities of using artificial intelligence in logistics
(University of Žilina, 2024) Biňasová, Vladimíra; Bubeník, Peter; Rakyta, Miroslav; Kasajová, Marta; Zuzik, Ján
The paper focuses on the topic of the possibilities of using artificial intelligence in logistics. It provides basic information about the given topic, which is presented in the theoretical basis. It describes the definition, history and development and objectives of logistics. It also deals with aspects of Logistics 4.0 and the definition and history of artificial intelligence. The core of the work divides individual options between logistics platforms using artificial intelligence and logistics technologies using artificial intelligence, the principle of operation of which is subsequently described. The conclusion is devoted to the evaluation of the current state of use of artificial intelligence in the logistics industry. It also contains an overview of the advantages and disadvantages of the mentioned possibilities of use.

Evaluation of new trends and reasons for attendance artificial intelligence at the operational level
(University of Žilina, 2023) Biňasová, Vladimíra; Bubeník, Peter; Rakyta, Miroslav; Kasajová, Marta; Štaffenová, Katarína
The contribution is focused on the analysis of the current state of the introduction of artificial intelligence in enterprises in Slovakia. Here are also the results of a questionnaire survey aimed at finding out what the participating small and medium-sized enterprises mean by the term digitization, whether they use it and consider it important. The questionnaire also investigated whether companies are familiar with the national strategies of Industry 4.0 or how they see the service provision and financing system in this context. The conclusion of the article is devoted to the evaluation of new trends and reasons for the emergence of artificial intelligence.

Mobilné modulárne centrum pre riadenie hraníc v krízových situáciách
(Žilinská univerzita v Žiline, 2022) Košč, Ivan; Odler, Robert; Galba, Juraj; Koščová, Michaela; Gebeová, Klára
The presented research aims to solve the problematics of the international migration management in the way of a Mobile modular center research and development. The general aim of the proposed Mobile modular center for the crisis management of the international migration is to design an optimal set-up and system arrangement containing a precisely specified series of ecessary workplaces providing a high degree of variability and configurability into the required functional cluster. Concept of the mobile, modular system is based on the sophistically modified standardized units (shipping container type of unit). Depending on the nature of the crise situation (a natural disaster, a major industrial accident, a pandemic, a migration wave, a state of threat, a state of war, etc.), it is possible to build an ideal complex of the workplace modules for management, control and diagnostics of people in the most optimal geographical location in relation to the currently solved crisis.

Use of artificial intelligence in unmanned aerial vehlice industry
(University of Zilina, 2021) Buday, Adam; Ažaltovič, Viliam
The aim of this paper is the analysis of the contemporary state of implementation of artificial intelligence in the area of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and a proposal of further use of artificial intelligence systems in this area in the future. We analyse three essential areas in which artificial intelligence systems are currently being implemented to some extend – path following, object detection and tracking, and anti—collision systems. In each mentioned area we apply different solution methods, technical requirements, but also advantages and disadvantages of those solutions. We present an overview of artificial intelligence as a scientific branch. Finally, we present an overview of how artificial intelligence in the field of UAV could be implemented in the future, based on an analysis of the current state and direction of research and development in the present. We describe the possibilities of use artificial intelligence systems in two areas that are currently receiving the most attention at concept level, namely the flight of autonomous UAV swarms and the improvement of communication and data exchange between individual UAVs using artificial intelligence.
