Corrosion behavior of the AlSi5Cu2Mg alloy with varying Zr addition
(University of Žilina, 2023) Širanec, Lukáš
The aim of this paper was to analyze the impact of varying zirconium additions (0.05; 0.10; 0.15 and 0.20 wt. % Zr) on corrosion behavior of the AlSi5Cu2Mg aluminum alloy. Potentiodynamic polarization corrosion tests in 3.5 % NaCl solution demonstrated that the addition of Zr improved the thermodynamic corrosion stability of the AlSi5Cu2Mg alloy by shifting the corrosion potential to more positive values for all as-cast samples. The addition of Zr to the as-cast alloys also improved corrosion kinetics by lowering the corrosion current density.

Analysis of new progressive diagnistic methods in the area of aircraft maintenance
(University of Zilina, 2021) Supuka, Matej; Hrúz, Michal
In the area of aircraft maintenance, we commonly meet with the problem of corrosion, detection of which is one of the primary obstacles. Implementation of modern sensing techniques has a potential to bring many benefits. The objective of this work is to analyze technologies, their potential applications, and viability of switching to autonomous detection using computer aided sensing. Primary source of information were research articles from science databases such as ResearchGate and ScienceDirect. Available documents were analyzed and subsequently, useful information was extracted. First part deals with theretical knowledge about corrosion, based on which potential technologies were chosen. Those were then described, and their viability was analyzed, based on how well they could achieve our goals. Selected technologies have shown potential, however necessary solutions could not be found to enable fully switching tou autonomous computer detection. Although data acquired show many potential benefits that could arise from partial implementation of these technologies combined fith old fashioned visual inspection.

METHODOLOGY FOR INSPECTION OF RIVETED SAMPLES BY THE ECA METHOD
(Žilinská univerzita v Žiline, 2020) Janovec, Michal; Čerňan, Jozef
The eddy current method is very often used technique of non-destructive testing and evaluation of materials. The method is very suitable for the detection of cracks that result from fatigue or cracking as a result of stress corrosion. Eddy current testing can be performed with minimal part preparation and a high degree of sensitivity. The eddy current method is used for the detection of surface and subsurface failures, corrosion in aircraft structures, holes for fixing various components and thread cracks. The paper describes the application of the eddy current method ECA in the inspection of riveted joints of the produced sample. The riveted sample is made of aluminum sheets and countersunk head rivets. Simulated damages are created around the rivet holes on the riveted specimen. Artificially formed notches simulate cracks around the rivet holes, and aluminum powder is used to simulate corrosion of aluminum sheets. These damages are then scanned with an Olympus OmniScan MX flaw defectoscop and the results of the measurements are evaluated in this article. SAB-067-005-032 and SBB-051-150-032 are used for non-destructive measurements.
