This article focuses on the relationship between different cloud types and specific weather phenomena, as well as the potential of using cloud observations for short-term weather forecasting. The research is based on the analysis of METAR reports collected at Žilina Airport during the summer months of 2024 (June–August). The study aims to identify typical features of cloud development under various synoptic conditions—such as the passage of cold fronts, periods of atmospheric stabilization, and the occurrence of convective storms. The goal is to evaluate the extent to which visual observations of clouds can improve the effectiveness of short-term forecasts and complement standard meteorological methods, thereby supporting aviation safety.
