Item Výpočet a optimalizácia venca lopatiek plynovej turbíny experimentálneho motora(University of Žilina, 2024) Martincová, Alexandra; Čerňan, JozefThe thesis deals with the calculation and optimization of the stage of the gas turbine distributor vanes of an experimental engine. The aim is to create an experimental turboshaft engine by combination of the Saphir 5 auxiliary power unit and a free gas turbine with a gearbox, derived from the TS-21 turbine starter. Through calculations, it is necessary to determine the optimal geometric parameters and the resulting number of stator vanes in order to design a 3D model of the gas turbine stator shroud as a connecting element between the Saphir 5 and the free gas turbine, which consists only of the rotor blades. The results of the work and the evaluation consists of calculations of the thermodynamic circulation of Saphir 5 and calculations of gas turbines. It also contains the design of the stator ring of a free gas turbine, as an intermediate member or flange of two aggregates creating an experimental engine. The 3D model and optimization is created using the Creo 7.0 program, which are based on the calculation of the gas turbine itself. In the end, we will get to the answers and to the summary of the results that created the exact design of the experimental engine.Item Návrh a realizácia trojvalcového spaľovacieho motora v usporiadaní do hviezdy(University of Žilina, 2024) Lubják, Peter; Čerňan, JozefThis article looks at different combustion engine topologies and concentrates on designing and building a two-stroke radial engine prototype for use in aircraft. The article contains information about currently used aviation fuels, evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of their use, and the status of alternative propulsion utilization in aviation with an emphasis on ecology. The focus of the article is on methods of laboratory testing of the properties and quality of aviation kerosene as the most commonly used aviation fuel, where testing methods and procedures on specific laboratory instruments are described. In the practical part of this thesis, the method of producing aviation kerosene from waste hydrocarbon sources, specifically waste motor oils and industrial emulsions, is described. The detailed procedure for fuel production is subsequently concluded with laboratory testing of basic properties and their comparison with the properties of aviation kerosene.Item Návrh technických úprav pre zvýšenie výkonu piestového motora hercules Teledyne 4A084(University of Žilina, 2024) Bernáth, Martin; Čerňan, JozefThis article concerns the investigation of the possibilities of increasing the power of the Hercules Teledyne 4A084 engine. The aim of this article is the proposal of technical modifications, that could be carried out on the engine in order to increase its power. In the introduction, the reader is informed about the piston engine in question. The article further takes a look on the effect of individual piston engine systems on performance. In the final part of the work, the ideal air flow through the carburetor for the Hercules engine is calculated, then modifications are proposed, which are expected to increase its performance. The modifications mainly concern the fuel system, the ignition system and the connection of the device for supercharging the engine.Item Koncept vrtuľového propulzora pre široký rozsah rýchlosti letu(University of Žilina, 2024) Ivan, Jakub; Čerňan, JozefThis thesis is focused on creation of propeller concept for wide range of flight speed. The part, which is discussed in the thesis is creation of design for blade motion mechanization, that can reach variable diameters. Apart of creation of this design, the thesis offers historic overview of propeller development throughout the years. Mechanization is designed in 3D environment. The software used for design is Autodesk Inventor. Design isn´t calculated of given engine. The outcome of this thesis is to give perspective for constructers, whoever would want to construct this idea in reality, not 3D environment only. The design in 3D environment is working as it should and when motion is launched, blades are really changing the diameter. In the design study, radius difference between extended and reduced blades is more than 300 millimeters. Desing complies with the task.Item Návrh hybridnej pohonnej jednotky pre experimentálny letún Straton D7(University of Žilina, 2024) Longauer, Oliver; Čerňan, JozefThe aim of this article is designing hybrid power unit for the needs of experimental aircraft Straton D7. Article describes different options of hybridization of power units on basis of their architecture and the function of electric component in relation to the whole power unit. Compares different designs of automotive and aircraft solutions of hybridization of power units. After that, article offers solution for hybrid engine of Straton D7 on basis of gained theoretical knowledge, comparison of shown conceptions and basic calculations, with the needs and predispostion of the original aircraft in its best interest.Item Optimalizácia činnosti motora ROTAX 915is s alternatívnou riadiacou jednotkou(University of Žilina, 2024) Voderadský, Ján; Čerňan, JozefThe aim of this bachelor's thesis was to optimize the performance of the ROTAX 915 IS engine using an alternative electronic control unit. This work provides a detailed overview of the mechanisms and control systems used in other engines as well. The thesis focuses on a comprehensive understanding of both the basic and auxiliary systems of the engine and provides a proposal for optimizing the performance of the ROTAX 915 IS engine. The optimization of the engine was designed to improve efficiency, increase engine performance, and overall reliability in various modes. Following the design, a testing phase ensued where the unit was subjected to extensive practical tests on a real ROTAX 915 IS engine. These tests demonstrated significant improvements in the controllability and performance of the engine, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed settings. The results of this bachelor's thesis highlight the potential of alternative control units to enhance the performance and efficiency of engines. The findings can be used for further research that could expand the use of alternative control units in other aviation engines.Item Ignition system and their purpose in aircraft reciprocating engines(University of Žilina, 2023) Vorlíček, Marek; Čerňan, JozefThis research describes the function and principles of ignition systems in aircraft reciprocating engines. Physical-chemical processes, which are part of combustion, and the factors affecting them are defined in detail. Types of ignition systems are divided based on main parts and frequency of appearance in aircraft engines. Components of ignition and their function in electric and magnetic circuits are individually described. The future development in ignition systems is defined. The research includes an analysis of the pros and cons of laser ignition in its application in aviation. It presents Low-Temperature Combustion or Volumetric Ignition using Low-Temperature Plasma. An example may be the Microwave-assisted Plasma Ignition System. Engine speed and vacuum in intake are the main parameters influencing the ignition timing curve in Electronic Control Unit Master developed by IMF Soft. This ECU is used in the designed ignition system of testing engine. The designed timing curves were tested, and the results of engine power and torque were compared. We go through theoretical knowledge about the issue in which we work on the basis of which we created solutions. We worked with the teaching aids of the Department of Aviation at the airport in Žilina. We prepared these tools for work in the workshop and we made minor adjustments to the engine to make it possible to carry out our work. In our work, we used a procedure called high-fidelity prototyping. This means that we created a digital model on which we applied solutions. We decided to transfer our prototype to the digital environment due to low financial and time costs. We faced several design problems, including the need for a stator, the gap between the guide tunnel and the rotor, or how to connect to other components. We managed to find preliminary solutions for these problems and created a digital prototype of the resulting assembly. Subsequently, we presented the positives of our results and the method of their application in practice.
