Item Prevádzkovo-technické východiská koncepcie BWB letúnov(University of Žilina, 2025) Kováčová, Simona; Škultéty, FilipThe Blended Wing Body is a revolutionary aircraft concept with the potential to surpass present-day conventional aircraft regarding aerodynamic efficiency, and to lower the environmental impact of the aviation industry. However, despite over thirty years of contemporary research, there is still no operational blended wing body airliner, suggesting the presence of multiple unresolved issues pertaining to this design. This article investigates various operational and technical aspects related to the design process of BWB aeroplanes and their influence on the resulting aerodynamic performance. The aim of this work is a multidisciplinary analysis with focus on aircraft structure, operational safety and ultimately on the inter-comparison of required and achievable flight characteristics.Item Polymorfné konštrukcie ako súčasť riadenia letúnov(University of Žilina, 2025) Schwarz, Michal; Škultéty, FilipGoal of this work is to find out whether morphing wing configurations are a viable option for flight controls such as elevators, flaps, ailerons etc. This work is divided into 3 sections. First section is about general research of conventional wing constructions, materials used in aircraft and mechanisms used to actuate flight controls. Second section looks into construction of morphing wings, viable materials for these constructions, mechanism used to actuate them and finally designing a functioning morphing wing based on previous research. In final third part we are going to compare morphing configuration against conventional solutions used on aircraft today in CFD simulations as well as in a wind tunnel and compare the results gained by these simulations.Item Konštrukcia bezpilotného letúna s možnosťou VTOL(University of Žilina, 2025) Berki, Július; Škultéty, FilipArticle focuses on the design, construction, and testing of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities that does not require thrust vectoring mechanisms. The goal of the work was to create a simpler and more reliable prototype compared to most UAV convertiplanes, which use mechanisms for thrust vectoring, while being built from cost-effective materials. This UAV may be intended for the public as a DIY project. The article providing a design of the aircraft, including aerodynamic parameters, material selection, and electronic components. Airflow simulations using specialized software tools for aerodynamic analysis were applied during the development process. Experimental testing of the prototype was conducted in real-world conditions, including vertical take-offs and landings on a specially designed test polygon, where stability and hovering flight characteristics were monitored. Based on the results from the experimental tests, the success of the design was evaluated by the critical approach, which then led to the formulation of recommendations for improving the aircraft's design. The article also offers a guide to building DIY UAVs and provides a basis for further research in this area.Item Identifikácia prekážok v okolí letiska lzzi prostredníctvom leteckého laserového skenovania(University of Žilina, 2025) Švancár, Denis; Škultéty, FilipThe article focuses on the identification of obstacles in the vicinity of Žilina Airport (LZZI) by means of airborne laser scanning technology. The main objective of the thesis is to identify the limitations of this technology in determining the location and height of potential obstacles in the vicinity of Žilina Airport that could threaten the safety of air traffic. The subsequent values found were compared with the requirements set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The results showed that the LiDAR technology enables satisfactory identification of obstacles interfering with the airport obstacle planes. A number of vegetation obstacles were identified that interfere with the obstacle planes of Žilina Airport. The accuracy of the data collection met the requirements set by ICAO PANS-AIM for the areas surrounding the airport. The work confirmed the time efficiency of airborne laser scanning when used over vegetation obstructions in the wider vicinity of the airport.Item Integration of virtual and augmented reality elements into the training of future pilots(University of Žilina, 2024) Šulka, Michael; Škultéty, FilipThe presented aim of paper is focused on the implementation of virtual and augmented reality elements into the training of future pilots. To understand the issues related to these technologies, in its introduction, the thesis focuses on identifying the differences between virtual reality and augmented reality. The next part of the thesis focuses on the analysis of the use of virtual and augmented reality in civil aviation. The following section deals with the creation of a virtual environment for the purpose of training of future pilots. The creation of the virtual environment is divided into two parts. The first part concerns the creation of the virtual cockpit of the selected aircraft. This will allow pilots in training to become familiar with the layout of the on-board instruments and controls. The second part of the proposed virtual environment allows pilots to practice checklists. Checklists are a critical skill for every pilot. At the end of the thesis, feedback from the students is presented.Item Využitie poznatkov z leteckých navigačných súťaží v prostredí leteckého výcviku a vzdelávania(University of Žilina, 2024) Liptajová, Kristína Jana; Škultéty, FilipThe research is devoted to the application of the knowledge and evaluation methods of the Air navigation race to flight training and education, with particular emphasis on the importance of pre-flight preparation and knowledge of visual cross-country navigation. The thesis aims to evaluate the navigation skills of the pilots (respondents), which was done using an objective method, i.e. measurements on a flight simulator. The respondents were divided according to flight experience and year of university studies into three groups. The results of the simulator measurements revealed an improvement in the navigation skills to many respondents. The thesis further includes a theoretical evaluation of the knowledge of students with an aeronautical background. The comparison of the result is based on the evaluation of paired questionnaires of the same scope and difficulty, with the difference that before the second questionnaire, the respondents received professional instruction on aeronautical navigation competitions and the principles of comparative navigation. Improvements in the students' theoretical knowledge results were observed for most respondents, two achieved the same result and there was no deterioration in either case.Item New generation aircraft concepts and assessment of their design solutions(University of Žilina, 2024) Matzenauer, Robert; Škultéty, FilipThe bachelor thesis is focused on new generation aircraft concepts, analysing new design solutions and technologies. At the same time, the thesis assesses the current state of development of aviation technology and prospectively presents new facts that can be expected in the near future in the context of civil aviation. In the perspective of new design solutions for transport aeroplanes, it first analyses the advantages resulting from a new type of blended wing body and transonic truss-braced wing design. In the context of conventional configuration aeroplanes, it discusses aeroplanes from the private jet sector and one specific piston engine aeroplane that competes with small jets in terms of its performance characteristics. The thesis also deals with urban air mobility, in the form of eVTOL flying vehicles, which aim to provide air transport in large cities and then compares them with each other in terms of their operational parameters. Finally, the thesis discusses the potential return of supersonic air transport, in the form of a new supersonic transport aircraft.Item Technické prevedenie spätoväzobného systému riadenia v leteckom simulátore(University of Žilina, 2024) Zimmermann, Samuel; Škultéty, FilipThe aim of the article is to analyse the current issue of force feedback control systems in flight simulation training devices.
