Integration of virtual and augmented reality elements into the training of future pilots
(University of Žilina, 2024) Šulka, Michael; Škultéty, Filip
The presented aim of paper is focused on the implementation of virtual and augmented reality elements into the training of future pilots. To understand the issues related to these technologies, in its introduction, the thesis focuses on identifying the differences between virtual reality and augmented reality. The next part of the thesis focuses on the analysis of the use of virtual and augmented reality in civil aviation. The following section deals with the creation of a virtual environment for the purpose of training of future pilots. The creation of the virtual environment is divided into two parts. The first part concerns the creation of the virtual cockpit of the selected aircraft. This will allow pilots in training to become familiar with the layout of the on-board instruments and controls. The second part of the proposed virtual environment allows pilots to practice checklists. Checklists are a critical skill for every pilot. At the end of the thesis, feedback from the students is presented.

(University of Žilina, 2024) Liptajová, Kristína Jana; Škultéty, Filip
The research is devoted to the application of the knowledge and evaluation methods of the Air navigation race to flight training and education, with particular emphasis on the importance of pre-flight preparation and knowledge of visual cross-country navigation. The thesis aims to evaluate the navigation skills of the pilots (respondents), which was done using an objective method, i.e. measurements on a flight simulator. The respondents were divided according to flight experience and year of university studies into three groups. The results of the simulator measurements revealed an improvement in the navigation skills to many respondents. The thesis further includes a theoretical evaluation of the knowledge of students with an aeronautical background. The comparison of the result is based on the evaluation of paired questionnaires of the same scope and difficulty, with the difference that before the second questionnaire, the respondents received professional instruction on aeronautical navigation competitions and the principles of comparative navigation. Improvements in the students' theoretical knowledge results were observed for most respondents, two achieved the same result and there was no deterioration in either case.

New generation aircraft concepts and assessment of their design solutions
(University of Žilina, 2024) Matzenauer, Robert; Škultéty, Filip
The bachelor thesis is focused on new generation aircraft concepts, analysing new design solutions and technologies. At the same time, the thesis assesses the current state of development of aviation technology and prospectively presents new facts that can be expected in the near future in the context of civil aviation. In the perspective of new design solutions for transport aeroplanes, it first analyses the advantages resulting from a new type of blended wing body and transonic truss-braced wing design. In the context of conventional configuration aeroplanes, it discusses aeroplanes from the private jet sector and one specific piston engine aeroplane that competes with small jets in terms of its performance characteristics. The thesis also deals with urban air mobility, in the form of eVTOL flying vehicles, which aim to provide air transport in large cities and then compares them with each other in terms of their operational parameters. Finally, the thesis discusses the potential return of supersonic air transport, in the form of a new supersonic transport aircraft.

Modification of the of the viper SD-4 braking system
(University of Žilina, 2023) Antoniuk, Kateryna; Škultéty, Filip
The Viper SD-4 is an excellent example of a Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) category of training aeroplanes. It is produced in Slovakia and used in several European countries and also in the United States of America. It is a very high-quality made aircraft, but some of the pilots say that it has one not very convenient component, which is the operation of the brake system. In this article researched how the brake system can be modified based on data from other brake systems used for the LSA category. The result of this research is the possible variants of the anticipated modifications and the analysis of the relevance of such changes.

Specification of ultralight aircraft maintenance standardisation
(University of Zilina, 2022) Maliňák, Ivan; Škultéty, Filip
The exact definition of an Ultralight Aircraft is still defined very differently from country to country. Internationally, there are different Ultralight Aircraft (UL) classes with nationally varying certification regulations. Accordingly, the term Ultralight Aircraft is used colloquially more or less comprehensively for Very Light Aircraft or Light Sport Aircraft. However, the latter are subject to much stricter certification and maintenance regulations. This work aims to compare the current legal situation in the European Union countries, extract the best practices, and create a proposal of how a new “state zero” should define the laws and regulations to create the best possible environment for UL maintenance. This thesis is written based on information and directions published on the websites of the responsible authorities of the respective countries, as well as communication with these authorities and first-hand knowledge obtained by conducting numerous interviews with people in the field of UL maintenance. The results indicate how different each country regulates the maintenance and continuing airworthiness of ULs and how important a harmonized regulation would be. It is especially important in order to have clarity as with larger aircraft and thus also to prevent numerous accidents and hazardous situations in the future.

    Requirements for CAT SET-IMC certification
(University of Zilina, 2022) Královenský, Marek; Škultéty, Filip
The diploma thesis deals with requirements for certification of single-engine turbine aircraft involved in commercial air transport and operated in instrument meteorological conditions or at night. The work in the first part introduces the theoretical background of the whole problem and presents to the reader the reasons why the approval of this type of operation in Europe was necessary. Subsequently, the second part of the work states all necessary requirements for obtaining approval for this type of operation, including the legislative framework and the risk analysis. The following section in work demonstrates different values of risk periods along the same route, depending on different conditions affecting aircraft performance. It also introduces possible new means for increasing safety in case of engine failure and subsequent drift down. The aim of the work is to provide a comprehensive overview throughout the certification process and offer existing operators new solutions for their SET-IMC operations, which could also improve their level of safety.
