Item História leteckej meteorológie(University of Žilina, 2025) Havlík, Timon; Jarošová, MiriamThis article traces the evolution of aviation meteorology from its earliest synoptic observations to today’s AI-driven forecasting systems. Through a structured literature review and analysis of key milestones—ranging from Aristotle’s Meteorologica and early instruments (anemometer, barometer) to the establishment of Meteor R.E. in World War I, the METAR/TAF standardization in 1968, and the founding of ECMWF—this study highlights how terminology, data formats and distribution methods have continuously advanced. A comparative assessment of past and present practices reveals dramatic improvements in data timeliness (hours to seconds), measurement accuracy, and global coverage via SOS/AWOS, GTS/SWIM and satellite networks (MetOp, Meteosat). Finally, it examines emerging applications of AI and support vector machines for hyperlocal nowcasting and 4D trajectory planning, underscoring the need for ongoing international collaboration and technological innovation to meet the challenges of an ever-changing atmosphere.Item Projevy klimatické změny na vybraných letištích Slovenska(University of Žilina, 2025) Janošková, Alena; Jarošová, MiriamThe topic of this article is focused on the impact of climate change on the increasing tendency in the occurrence of hazardous weather phenomena at selected airports in Slovakia. The aim of the article is to confirm or refute the influence of climate change on the increasing frequency of meteorological phenomena in the specified time frame from 2000 to 2019 by means of a comprehensive statistical analysis and statistical summarization of meteorological data. The first part of the article defines the basic terminology related to the climate change and specifies the importance of addressing the issue in the context of aviation safety. For the practical part of the article meteorological reports provided by the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute were used. In the practical part, various statistical methods, and a comprehensive evaluation of the frequency of individual weather phenomena during the analyzed years, were used. The hypothesis of increasing frequency of weather phenomena over the years was statistically confirmed only for thunderstorm activity at one meteorological station.Item DETEKCIA A PREDIKCIA HROZBY NÁMRAZY NA ZÁKLADE ANALÝZY POVETERNOSTNEJ SITUÁCIE A SPRÁV O POČASÍ NA LETISKU ŽILINA(Žilinská univerzita v Žiline, 2020) Fodor, Pavol; Jarošová, MiriamThe aim of the paper was to introduce the issue of icing as a dangerous phenomenon in aviation, its effect and impact on the safety of air transport and to approach this dangerous phenomenon in terms of aviation meteorology. We also paid considerable interest to air accidents caused by icing. However, we primarily focused on the description of the different types of icing, its division and occurrence of icing throughout various weather situations. In addition, we paid attention to classify and evaluate the occurrence of the icing on a specific weather situation, which made it possible to effectively predict the occurrence, origin or intensity of icing. We have also introduced the current state of icing prediction and prevention of flight into meteorological conditions with danger of icing.
