Item Analýza vplyvu spätného tlaku výfukového systému na spotrebu paliva v dvojdobých motoroch(University of Žilina, 2025) Stojčev, Filip; Lubják, PeterTwo-stroke engines have been known for a long time. Despite strong competition from four-stroke and electric engines, they continue to remain relevant. Their major advantage lies in their simple construction and favorable weight-to-power ratio. However, they suffer significantly in the area of combustion, where part of the fresh mixture escapes into the exhaust system. Therefore, it is important to study the phenomenon known as backpressure. By optimizing the backpressure of the exhaust system, higher combustion efficiency should be achieved. Since the need to improve combustion efficiency is a major concern from both economic and environmental perspectives, exhaust system optimization is essential. The aim is to determine, through the proposed testing on the P63 engine from a Trabant vehicle and the DLA 63 RC model engine, whether a well-designed exhaust system can help reduce these issues. The results demonstrate that a properly designed expansion chamber or correctly applied exhaust throttling can contribute to reducing fuel consumption and increasing combustion efficiency. At the same time, it is evident that an improperly designed exhaust system can worsen the addressed issues. The conclusions drawn from these experiments can serve in the future as a basis for improving combustion efficiency in practical applications of two-stroke engines.Item The Impact of Using Trailers on the Fuel Consumption(University of Zilina, 2018) Synák, František; Rievaj, Vladimír; Semanová, Štefánia; Palúch, JánThe amount of fuel consumed may also be influenced by driving style, speed as well as by the need for the use of passenger car trailers. This paper deals with the impact of using such trailers on the amount of fuel consumed. Measurement of the impact of the passenger car trailer on fuel consumption was carried out during driving at constant speed and during acceleration. The measurements were performed by driving test on a flat road. The first part of the paper deals with the driving resistances which influence fuel consumption during driving at constant speed and during acceleration on the flat road. The second part describes the vehicle used for measurements and measuring equipment. The conclusion of the paper includes the principles to reduce the impact of passenger car trailers on the amount of fuel consumed.Item The impact of roof box on fuel consumption(University of Zilina, 2017) Synák, František; Rievaj, VladimírPassenger vehicles are major petroleum consumers and contributors of greenhouse gas and criteria pollutant emissions in many countries around the world. The amount of fuel consumed affects the environment, status of health of human population as well as financial costs that are associated with vehicle operation. The roof box is one of the often used vehicle attachments. The aim of the paper is to measure the increase of fuel consumption affected by an installed roof box. The impact of roof box on the increase of fuel consumption is measured at the speeds of 50 km.h-1, 90 km.h-1 and 130 km.h-1. The introduction of the paper describes particular harmful constituents of exhaust gases and their effects. Another part of the article includes the methodology of measurement and its results. The last part of the article involves the evaluation of results and recommendations relating to reduction of the increase of fuel consumption affected by roof box.
