Využití metod vibrační analýzy pro kontinuální sledování technického stavu kritických prvků leteckého turbínového motoru
(University of Žilina, 2024) Mrakvia, Dominik Michael; Hrúz, Michal
The reliable operation of an aircraft turbine engine is critical to the safety, regularity and economy of airline operations. Existing methods for vibration diagnostics of jet engines have provided valuable information on potential problems and have proven to be an important and irreplaceable tool for jet engine maintenance, especially for predictive maintenance. However, real-time vibration diagnostics of critical components of in-service jet engines is only marginally used and its full potential is not being realised. The main objective of this work is to verify the use of vibration analysis methods currently used in the diagnostic processes of continuous condition monitoring of aircraft jet engines and, in addition, new advanced analysis methods in the environment of a newly designed vibrodiagnostic setup for the purpose of simulating selected types of damage to critical parts of an aircraft turbine engine. The first sub-target is to design, develop and verify the functionality of the vibrodiagnostic assembly for data acquisition and subsequent analysis. The second sub-task is to monitor and record vibrodiagnostic data using an accelerometer. The nature of each simulated condition is determined using vibration signal analysis methods. This provides a small-scale analogy to the diagnostic processes of critical elements of an aircraft turbine engine. The thesis also focuses on the potential for innovation in this area, particularly by improving the use of measured data. The results of the analysis are used to develop a proposal for a possible vibration monitoring system for use in engines currently in service.

    Aircraft airfoils
(University of Žilina, 2023) Haluzová, Kristína; Bugaj, Martin; Hrúz, Michal
This work deals with the airfoils of aircraft. First of all, it focuses on the general properties of wings. Furthermore, the work deals with the issue of various types of wing shape and compares individual shapes of airfoils, their properties and gradual development. Next, current wings of commercial aircraft are described, dealing with the materials used, types of winglets, mechanization of the wing and also different uses of the airfoils. The work also describes and compares wings of two famous commercial airliners – Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A320-200. In the end, the work also focuses on various concepts of the wings of the future, and how sustainability affects future development.

    Wing platforms of supersonic aircraft
(University of Žilina, 2023) Tabernaus, Richard; Bugaj, Martin; Hrúz, Michal
Goal of the paper is to describe various wing designs used in supersonic aircraft and their impact on lift, drag and stability with emphasis on high speed civil transport. Paper describes transonic and supersonic region, where formation of shockwaves is prevalent, and air behaves differently from subsonic region. The paper then describes different wing configurations and planforms affect the formation of lift and drag with emphasis on straight wing, swept wing and delta wing planfroms. It also provides insight into the history and the present research of supersonic flight with emphasis on civil transport.

Analysis of new progressive diagnistic methods in the area of aircraft maintenance
(University of Zilina, 2021) Supuka, Matej; Hrúz, Michal
In the area of aircraft maintenance, we commonly meet with the problem of corrosion, detection of which is one of the primary obstacles. Implementation of modern sensing techniques has a potential to bring many benefits. The objective of this work is to analyze technologies, their potential applications, and viability of switching to autonomous detection using computer aided sensing. Primary source of information were research articles from science databases such as ResearchGate and ScienceDirect. Available documents were analyzed and subsequently, useful information was extracted. First part deals with theretical knowledge about corrosion, based on which potential technologies were chosen. Those were then described, and their viability was analyzed, based on how well they could achieve our goals. Selected technologies have shown potential, however necessary solutions could not be found to enable fully switching tou autonomous computer detection. Although data acquired show many potential benefits that could arise from partial implementation of these technologies combined fith old fashioned visual inspection.

NÁVRH A KONŠTRUKCIA MODELU DEMONŠTRAČNÉHO AERODYNAMICKÉHO TUNELA
(Žilinská univerzita v Žiline, 2020) Hrúz, Michal; Pecho, Pavol
The paper is focused on the creation of a fully functional demonstrational model of a subsonic wind tunnel with integrated accessories, using low air velocities to perform test analyses. The analyses take place in the form of visual demonstrations of the air flow behavior around various solids and also in the form of computational tasks. The paper describes the use of theoretical knowledge and laws in the field of aerodynamics and their subsequent connection to the design and construction of the model, while its dimensions must meet the strict requirements for subsequent placement. The demonstrational model provides the necessary equipment for research in the aerospace and, in part, automotive industries. It provides conditions for student research and fully covers the teaching processes of Air Transport Department.
