The article presents a newly developed pneumatic flexible shaft coupling with hose flexible element usable, among other applications, in drives of mechanical systems. The presented coupling uses a hose-shaped flexible element winding between the supporting surfaces of coupling’s driving and driven hub. As the torque transfer is ensured with compressed air, the torsional stiffness of coupling can be adapted to actual operating parameters (rotational speed) with change or air pressure inside the flexible elements. This makes the presented coupling suitable for semi-active torsional vibration control. A patent was also granted for the presented coupling design. The design of hose-shaped element enables reliable sealing of compression volume and it is also easy to assembly and dismantle.en_US
