Use of artificial intelligence in unmanned aerial vehlice industry
(University of Zilina, 2021) Buday, Adam; Ažaltovič, Viliam
The aim of this paper is the analysis of the contemporary state of implementation of artificial intelligence in the area of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), and a proposal of further use of artificial intelligence systems in this area in the future. We analyse three essential areas in which artificial intelligence systems are currently being implemented to some extend – path following, object detection and tracking, and anti—collision systems. In each mentioned area we apply different solution methods, technical requirements, but also advantages and disadvantages of those solutions. We present an overview of artificial intelligence as a scientific branch. Finally, we present an overview of how artificial intelligence in the field of UAV could be implemented in the future, based on an analysis of the current state and direction of research and development in the present. We describe the possibilities of use artificial intelligence systems in two areas that are currently receiving the most attention at concept level, namely the flight of autonomous UAV swarms and the improvement of communication and data exchange between individual UAVs using artificial intelligence.

Streamlining pilot training with new simulation technologies
(University of Zilina, 2021) Buránsky, Filip; Škvareková, Iveta
The aim of the paper is based on a theoretical analysis to define several new simulation technologies that serve to streamline pilot training. Theresult was an evaluation of the effectiveness of individual simulation technologies. Part of the paper were also developed partial goals, which conditioned the fulfillment of the main goal of the final work. The theoretical part is devoted to the analysis of current trends in air transport, the characteristics of pilot training and the use of advanced technologies in the aviation industry, the incorporation of virtual and augmented reality to improve and streamline training. Furthermore, the comparison of individual intelligent glasses based on their technical parameters and subsequent evaluation of the most suitable glasses in terms of efficiency and usability in training is investigated. The result of the work is the selection of the most suitable smart glasses due to several advantages in terms of efficiency, increased concentration and simplification of pilot training.

Using SDR receivers for UAV detection
(University of Zilina, 2021) Dianovský, Robert; Novák, Andrej
As the number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) increases, new dangers arise for airports and other facilities. Because of this, the need for UAV detection and monitoring in areas, that might be endangered by their operation, is becoming an important topic. Introductory chapters are dedicated to the identification of potential risks posed by UAV operations and research of existing monitoring methods. The main goal of the paper, about which is this article, is to research the possibility of UAV detection by using accessible amateur SDR (Software-Defined Radio) for intercepting radio communications between UAV and its control station. Possible radio detection and localization methods were proposed based on the analysis of radio transmissions used in unmanned aerial systems. A simple theoretical design of SDR-based detection and localization system for monitoring unauthorized UAVs was developed by choosing appropriate methods. The principles and methods used in the design were experimentally demonstrated in several laboratory experiments. Successful realization of this design would possibly improve the availability of drone monitoring systems and reduce their production costs.

Implementation of a new RWY reporting system and snowtam format in slovak republic
(University of Zilina, 2021) Drábek, Marek; Kazda, Antonín
This paper presents the upcoming changes in the runway reporting format and the newly introduced SNOWTAM format. The aim of the paper is to draw comparisons between the current SNOWTAM format and the updated version applicable as of November 2021. The author analysed information from available documents published by the International Civil Aviation Organisation ICAO, which describe the general conditions adopted to the new runway condition reports formulations. Since the author is enrolled in his pilot training, his objective when writing this final thesis, was to understand the issue of the changes. From this knowledge he can benefit in his future carrier. The paper points out new formats of reports of airport movement areas reporting conditions. As the new reports and techniques of reporting have not been used in real conditions yet, the author based the paper on the ICAO standards and recommended practices, ICAO and EASA guidance material. Introduction of the new methodology is expected to provide a better understanding of reports informing about contamination on movement areas, to ensure more precise aeroplane performance calculations and enhance the safety.

The airspace of SR and its protection
(University of Zilina, 2021) Fábryová, Natália; Novák Sedláčková, Alena
The paper deals with international regulations of airspace of the Slovak republic and its protection. The paper is focused on the sovereignty airspace and free route airspace. The state has complete and absolute sovereignty over the airspace located above its territory. Airspace protection is important for ensuring territorial inviolability of the Slovak republic. There are defined the categories and classes of airspace. The last chapter consist of a NATO Integrated Air and Missile Defence System, its history and especially its function. In this chapter is defined the idea of „air policing “, which means the protection of airspace itself that is performed during the peace. In this part is described the position of emergency fighter pilots at Airport Sliac and model situations, but also the real situations, when Slovak emergency fighter pilots had to interfere against the aircraft that lost connection with air traffic management.
